Fourteenth Firefly - [voice/action]

[Seto knew something was wrong when he woke up. Baldr had even been acting weird. So he tried to contact Lightning over the journals. She should've come home from her mission by now. Baldr was no doubt just anxious to get back to her. But when he tried to set up a filter, it instantly broke.

He knows just as much as anyone what a broken filter means, and even when someone's on a mission, something like this doesn't happen. But despite knowing he went to her house with Baldr and found that all trace of her was gone. The dog had gone around the house and sniffed about for his owner but there was nothing. Not even the clothes in her closet were there.

It was just so bare.  What he feared was true.

When he returned home, he took a minute to sit down with the dog and hug him, burying his face into his black fur as the tears threaten to ove. It hurt, knowing that yet another one of his friends was now gone. Nagisa, Terra, Kazuma and now her. Lightning being another one of those who was very important to him. Especially considering what had happened between them not too long ago. He wanted to fix them.  To fix what he had broken.

It takes him a few minutes before he finally grabs his journal and opens it up to make the annoucement. It’s been a while since he’s done something like this so for a good few seconds, there’s nothing but silence as he tries to bring himself to say those words.]

…Lightning has been sent home. [Said gently and sadly. He pets Baldr's head as he lays down beside him.]

I… don’t know if she left anything behind for anyone. I went to her house but nothing’s there. [Granted he didn’t snoop around but he felt it was wrong to do so, even though she isn’t here anymore.

He still feels like he has to be careful where he steps when it comes to her. He wanted to gain her trust back, he was slowly getting there but now… no, come now Seto, maybe she’ll come back one day. And he can try again, even start from scratch if he has to.

“Friends always see each other again.”

Right…

He isn't sure what else to say so there's a long pause before he speaks up again.] Does anyone want to go on a walk with Baldr and I? I know it’s cold but I think he’s sad… [Seto’s no expert on dogs by any means, he’s more of a cat whisperer, but still. Maybe a walk will do him some kind of good. Seto too.

Whether anyone has decided to join him or not, a little bit after his entry goes up, Seto will be walking around the village bundled up with a big black dog at his side. He’ll be seen just about anywhere around the village so feel free to bug him!]

[Firo can't miss the sound of Seto crying. He creeps apprehensively into the room where Seto sits with the dog and his heart drops when he sees the tears for himself.]

Seto?

[He rushes over, quickly looking Seto over to make sure there aren't any visible injuries. He counts it as a small blessing that there don't seem to be any, but that's not much comfort when the kid seems to heartbroken. He kneels down by Seto and rests his hand on his shoulder.]

Hey... what's wrong?

[Action]

[Seto doesn't let go of Baldr, even when Firo comes over. The dog has his head rested on his shoulder so he doesn't want to let him go since he's so sad. But he does glance at Firo, using one hand to rub his eyes]

Lightning's gone...

[Action]

Your friend?

[His heart sinks. He's only had two friends go home, but one was pretty recent and still painful; it's not a fate he'd wish on anyone, especially Seto. It makes him angry with himself that, despite going through this before, he has no real advice to offer Seto. So he just wraps his arm around Seto's shoulders more securely.]

I'm sorry.

[Action]

[He places one of his hands on Firo's arm, gripping it a little as he lets his gaze move to the floor]

It's okay. We'll... get to see each other again someday. Friends always do. [He has to keep telling himself this, out loud or in his head]

[Firo's thinking--that all good things eventually end--is at odds with Seto's. But he keeps that to himself. One of the things he's been learning in his time in Luceti, especially from his time with Seto, is that even "realistic" pessimism isn't appropriate at times like this.]

...I hope so.

There anything you wanna do?

[He wishes there could be something that would take Seto's mind off of this.]

[Huh what's going on--oh, Seto's talking on the journal...someone went home? But wasn't it impossible to leave this place or something? Still, it sounds like one of Seto's other friends apparently left...

Where do you wanna walk to? [Just give us a second to jump down off this roof first so that we can join you guys]

[It doesn't really come as a surprise to him that Crow heard and is willing to go on a walk with him but it makes him happy. He could use his best friend's company]

Anywhere is fine. [Seto can't say he's ever been particularly picky about where he goes when he takes a walk around the village. He just. walks.]

[Whoosh! There he goes jumping down off the roof of the house, landing down somewhere on the ground. He frowns a little at the fact that he still couldn't get these wings to actually fly, but then he puts on a grin as you'll now have your best friend poking a head in through a window or something near you.]

Then I guess we'll just have to go everywhere!

[Maybe it takes jumping off a taller building and jumping with your best friend to get them to fly. Oh. well hi there Crow where did you come from. He has to smile a little at his response though and nods]

That sounds good to me. [He stands up and Baldr does the same]

[Granted, Tao didn't know the person in question, but people leaving was always sad. And she didn't like to see her friends (especially housemates) sad, at all. Cats are rather sensitive about emotions, so it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise that Tao's making her way closer to him, sensing Seto's distress.]

[It takes him a moment before he spots his kitty housemate making her way over to him and he puts on a small, half forced smile for her.]

Hey Tao. Are you okay? [She looks sad]

I'm okay...but you're not. Right?

[You can't hide from her feline senses, Seto.]

[He will certainly try though!! He doesn't want his friends to worry too much about him]

I'll... be all right. Don't worry.

I would love to walk with you, if you feel up to the company. I was just thinking about asking you when you would like to learn to skate. 'Today' probably isn't the answer...but I wanted you to know I didn't forget.

I'd love to have your company, Mia. And I'd love to learn to skate whenever you're up for teaching me. Even today would be fine. [He knew she wouldn't forget but it still makes him happy]

Are you sure? It's perfectly all right to wait until you're feeling better. ['Better' meaning less sad.] We could still walk.

...Let's walk, then. [Baldr could use the walk. Seto can wait for skating]

[Though walking through the village every day was normal for Tear, something about Seto and Baldr catches her attention as she comes closer to them, brow furrowing ever so slightly. Though she doesn't know either of them, she comes rather close to the two nevertheless.]

[Seto isn't paying much attention as he's walking. In fact, he's staring at the ground with his hands stuffed in his pockets, lost almost completely in thought.

Baldr is actually the first to notice Tear and he perks his head up, staring at her which makes Seto snap out of his daze and turn his attention to whatever Baldr happens to be looking at. He stares for a moment before putting on a... slightly forced smile. Meeting new people makes him happy okay.]

Ah--Hello.

Good afternoon. [Tear manages a small smile back, but there is a feeling that something is wrong. Rather than ask about it, she directs her attention to Baldr, extending a hand out to him so he could know she wasn't trying to be hostile.]

Is this your dog?

[action] yes, let's. (yay)

[He has to blink and stare at her again for another good minute when she speaks. Her voice sounds... oddly familiar. But he doesn't dwell on it because hello she asked a question.

Baldr lifts his head to try and sniff her hand and his tail even begins to wag a little. No hostility here!]

Oh--um, no. He belongs to a friend of mine. [A beat and then a more sad smile] I'm taking care of him until she comes back.

He's Lightning's dog. [He's going to move the journal so the camera is facing the big fuzzy black dog who's laying down]

[Voice]

Oh... sure, I'd love to go for a walk with you guys. Do you want to go now, or should we do it later?
