Fifth Firefly - [voice]

[I hurt...I tire...and I collapse.

When I'm staring into the darkness...I find myself somehow entranced by it.

Suddenly I hear laughter.  Fearless, mean...and yet kind....it calls to me.

The days we spent together are long gone, drifting away like clouds in the breeze.  Even though memories are often fleeting.

All I need to do is close my eyes and your face appears...clear, and forever young.

 

Seto sits quietly in the dull, doll filled room, his forehead resting on his knees as his shoulders give a small shake every now and then.  His hands run through his hair but stayed atop his head, his red-brown hair messily entwining around his fingers.  The flashlight that lays on the other side of the room shines on the young boy, making the silver skull ring on his finger sparkle.  In front of him is a crow's feather, just like it had appeared once before back in his world to signify that his best friend...is gone.  This place has taken it upon itself to snatch him away while reminding him where he died.  

The journal lies next to him, open and only recording the sniffles that come from Seto every now and then.  He mumbles quietly before shutting it]

[Hearing Seto's sniffing worried Nagisa. Was he crying? It sure seemed like it. At first, she didn't say anything. When he finally spoke though, she realized what it could've been. Could this have been what Minako was talking about? How people can leave? Concerned Nagisa is concerned.]

...Seto?

Why....

[He doesn't mean to be so sad, especially in front of Nagisa but he just can't help it. Even this world is loving the idea of taking everything away from him. It hurts...]

Is Crow a friend of yours?

[Voice]

[If you could see him nod that would answer your question but since it's over voice, he has to say it. So he swallows down a sob]

Mm...my best friend...

[Voice] /GUILT. Would've done video but I thought it was supposed to only be voice LOL

[Just as she thought then. It really was just as Minako had said. She could only imagine how upset she'd feel if Tomoya disappeared, so it must have been really upsetting for Seto. Or anyone else who has gone through it, for that matter.]

I-I'm sorry, Seto...

[Voice] LOL d'awww you could have made it video if you wanted~ Seto just made a voice entry

[Now he lets out a small cry as he buries his face in his hands, curling up more than before. He doesn't want to look up, it will only kill him to see this room]

I hate this so much!! I thought he was going to stay with me...

[Voice] Well damn.

[She wants to hug you so badly right now.]

But, it wasn't his choice, was it? So, d-don't blame him. I-I'm sure he didn't want to leave you, either.

[The situation was already getting to Nagisa. She felt like tears were going to well up in her eyes, too. It just... didn't seem fair. At all. To have someone you care about suddenly taken from you, especially in a world much different to your own. It's just not fair.]

[Voice] now you know~

I...I don't blame him...I-I could never...

[He's never once truly blamed Crow, not for one thing. Besides, he knows that Crow would never leave him alone, especially after what happened between them last in their world]

I'm just...t-tired of this...[Of being alone that is]

[Bruised and sore and tired, Giles nevertheless makes himself sit up on his bed in the clinic to take hold of his journal.]

Why...

[It's obvious that's the only thing he's capable of saying right now. Why is Crow always taken away from him? Why does this world want to take away what he loves? Just, why?]

...I wish I knew.

...I'm so sorry, Seto.

[The sounds of movement filter over the journal - Giles getting up, trying not to wince.]

[The sniffling turns into small sobs as he curls up even more than before. Is he not meant to have a best friend anymore? That's what he's beginning to think]

I hate this...I hate it...

You have every right to. It...it isn't fair.

...I'm sure he didn't want to leave.

He promised we'd stay together this time!! [Raising his voice now. Sorry Giles, he's just upset]

I wanted to fly with him...I wanted to read with him...and now I--can't...

[Giles understands. He knows the feeling - he's lost nearly everyone from home that was ever here - and he can't ever see them again unless Luceti brings them back.

So he's the last person who's going to deny Seto the right to be upset.]

We don't leave of our own volition, Seto. The ones who are sent home don't even get any warning that it's happening - one second we're here and the next we aren't.

It might not have been a promise that he could have kept. That doesn't mean he didn't want to.

[He knows this voice. Seto, if he remembers it right.]

Why...

[That seems to the the only word that comes to mind right now. He recognizes the person on the other end but he can't bring himself to say more than that. Mainly because he truly wants to know why Crow was taken from him...again.]

[Some part of Roy is glad the journal's recording just his voice right now. He rather not deal with explaining why he knows this kid's name, when Seto's like this.]

...Sorry, I don't know.

[Voice]

I-I didn't want him to go....

[Bringing his knees closer to his chest, he grips his hair tighter and lets out a choked cry though he inhales a moment later to hold in any other cries]

Of course you didn't want to. The Malnosso are just bastards for [tearing friends apart] doing this.

T-They gave him back--[Hic]--then took him away...they're so mean...I hate this!!

[Roji isn't sure what to say. He knows there's no reason to ask if the boy is okay. The answer is obvious.]

[At first all he does is let out a choked exhale, since he's basically been holding his breath so he doesn't start crying. But after a moment he speaks shakily]

W-Why...

[He just... doesn't understand. It's why he doesn't say anything, and instead of giving a lecture of a response for Seto to man-up he just remains silent. Finally, he sighs and slowly shuts the journal, still without a word.

Maybe he'll have something worth saying to Seto the next time he opens it, but for now it'll be staying shut.]
