[Seto continues to pet the dog for a few more moments before standing up straight and looking at Lightning with a smile]

So what did you want to talk to me about?

[struckout]

[ She sighs, quietly to herself as she shifts her weight... then gestures to Seto briefly as she steps away. Apparently, simply standing while they're talking is out of the question. ]

I've been given a mission, this morning.

[ And even though she's always turned down the offer of non-forced missions in the past... well, she needs something to do. Desperately.

There's a problem, though: Baldr, who she can't just leave alone for however long she can expect to be gone. Just because he can talk doesn't mean he can fend for himself, after all, so... ]

[Seto follows her gesture, not really minding if they walk and talk.

But he frowns a little, worried. Though he probably shouldn't be because he knows how strong she is. But it must be a big one if she's called him out here to talk about it. So the worry in his voice comes out when he speaks]

Really? When are you leaving?

[struckout]

Before long. Hour before noon.

[ She's definitely no sugarcoater... even as her own worries crowd in at the edges of her thoughts, reminders of how stiffly she's been acting when she's about to ask a favor here. It doesn't seem right of her to do this, when what should be repaired is still left unaddressed... but her options aren't exactly very diverse right now.

Even Lightning knows she has to do something for the sake of her mental health here. Something has to be done before she finally just breaks down, and frankly, she's in no state to navigate the fragile path of apologies while still maintaining her careful distance. That in itself is a very, very bad sign. ]

I need to request a favor of you, if you're capable of it.

I see... [He stares worriedly at the ground for a moment until she speaks up again and he perks right up, determination in his eyes now]

Yes, of course! [No matter what it is, he'll be able to handle it. He can do it for her] What is it?

[ She tilts her chin down slightly, pauses, but then shifts her gaze pointedly in the dog's direction. ]

I need someone to watch over Baldr in the meantime. [ A breath. ] Can you do it?

[ Apparently handing off furry critters and disappearing is a recurring thing of hers now. ]

[He blinks but then immediately nods his head] Yes, I can take care of him!

[struckout]

Good. [ And then immediately, distractedly: ] Thank you.

[ She looks down, pausing as her eyes fall on the dog. All things told, there's no doubt there's a hint of sadness in her expression for a moment, but then she seems to sober right back up yet again. ]

There should be enough time to get you his things.

[ And... give a brief run-down on how to care for him. Unfortunately, there's going to be a pretty disappointed doggy when he learns he's eating dog food for convenience rather than Lightning expecting Seto to wrangle up mostly raw meat for his diet like she does. 8|;; ]

You're welcome. [He watches Lightning for a moment, taking note of that sad look on her face and becomes even more worried. He's not sure if he can say he's ever seen Lightning look sad before--at least not in front of him, even before she lost trust in him]
