Sixth Firefly - [Voice]/[Action]

[Voice]

[Lately all Seto can think about is home, probably because he has nothing better to do when laying in his bed. Images of what's left of the cities and small villages flash through his mind. Everything is so dominated by the wildlife he has no idea what it could have been like for those who lived there before...whatever happened to his world.

But it dawns on him, other people must've lived in an alternate Japan right? So why not ask them? It'll give him something to do too so might as well.]

I've heard that some people here are from Japan. A different Japan than other's but they're all similar in some way and I was wondering...what's it like there? Are there a lot of people? Is the red tower special?

[He goes quiet for a moment then lets out a soft, almost sad sounding chuckle] I'm sorry, I'm just a little curious... [A pause] O-Of course I wouldn't mind hearing about other worlds too. Anything is fine..

[Action]

[Once the sun goes down, Seto will be out on the roof of community building three, just laying there to stare up at the stars. To be honest it brings him comfort when he stares at shining lights in the sky. For the past ten years at home, they have been his only company since his grandpa and him never really talked all too much, especially near the end of his life.

In any case, he'll be up there for a good majority of the night, he may even fall asleep]

[ A relieved smile appears on his face. This isn't going to stop him from looking for a way out, but at least he now knows that Ennis can't be hurt while he's stuck here. ]

So everything'll be fine until I get back... Thanks, pal.

[Oh good! He's smiling now too. This makes Seto beam]

My name is Seto, and you're welcome.

[ In response Firo can't help his own smile growing a little wider. ]

I'm Firo Prochainezo. It's nice meetin' you, Seto. Thanks again.

It's nice to meet you too Firo! [Beaming] No problem. If you ever need help, just let me know.

[ He smiles back and nods. ]

I will.

[ He probably won't, but that doesn't matter when Seto has a sixth sense about people's troubles. ]

[He just stares for a moment then pats the empty space next to him] Want to sit with me?

[ He hesitates, though his exhausted legs are screaming at him to take up the offer. Finally he plops down beside Seto. ]

Sure. What're you doin' up here?

[Beaming forever. He points up at the starry night sky]

Stargazing.

[ Firo lets his eyes linger for a few moments on the stars before looking back at Seto. ]

Is this what you normally do?

[ He finds that he's calmed down a little by now, but he doesn't understand how one can take the time for such relaxing activities when trapped in an alien world. ]

Uh huh! I try to come out here every night but it's been a while since I've been out here. I've been sick for a while.

[But he's all better now so it's okay! Hope you don't mind Firo but Seto's going to lay back down with his arms behind his head]

Sick?

[ Even another world has its sicknesses, Firo realizes. He has to wonder just how sick Seto was if he couldn't go out. ]

Was it bad?

[ He can't help but be worried; Seto's proved himself to be a good person already. Is he lying down because he's still tired from his sickness? ]

It was pretty bad for a while...I guess now is the best time to tell you too.

[Seto kinda rolls on to his side to gesture to one of his wings]

Please remember, don't ever let your wings get injured or ripped off. If one is ripped off you'll get really really sick...if both are ripped off then you'll die... [Not exactly a happy subject huh?] I was sick because my wing was torn off.

[ Firo stares at Seto's wings before peering back at his own. He hasn't had enough time to adjust to him or other people having wings. It's all very strange, and he feels self-conscious, and a little pained, by his wings. ]

So there's no way I can get these off and survive..?

[ Perhaps his immortality can save him, but he doesn't ask about that yet. He's too busy being concerned about what thing in Luceti could rip somebody's wing off. ]

Did somebody do that to you?

[Shaking his head, he rolls back onto his back]

No...I've heard from people around the village that you die instantly if they're both torn off.

[There's a pause and he brings a hand to his right shoulder, gripping it a little. Just remembering that moment still makes his back ache]

We were fighting with the third party and they ambushed me in the forest...I didn't stand a chance.

[ Just imagining it makes Firo wince. ]

The third party? Are they the same thing as the guys who brought us here?

Nope! Actually they're our enemies...kinda. We're drafted every few months or so and sent to fight against the third party in a war. The Malnosso are more like our allies...in a sense.

[In a weird weird sense]

Somebody who kidnaps you doesn't count as an ally.

Does everybody wind up goin' out to fight?

I know but, they're better than the third party...

Not everyone. People are just picked at random most of the time.

[ They do sound pretty brutal from what they did to Seto. Firo doesn't speak for a few moments to think of what Seto's told him. This crazy world is becoming more and more difficult for him to comprehend. There are a lot of questions he wants to ask, but he can't really process any of them. Finally, he decides to let those issues rest. He'll figure it out eventually. ]

Does your wing still hurt?

Not as much! [He finally smiles again]

I've been in bed for pretty much two weeks now and it's grown back so it feels much better now, though I am still a little weak.

[ Firo pulls his knees up to his chest and folds his arms over them, resting his chin on his arms. He sighs and manages a weak smile for Seto. ]

That's good to hear. Should you really be outside if you're still sick though?

[ He hears plenty of rumors that night air is bad for you, and if this place has dangerous thugs like the Third Party, being outside at night doesn't seem like a good idea. ]

I'll be fine! Don't worry.

[Nothing is going to stop him from stargazing. Nothing. He gives Firo a bright smile and sits up, leaning back on the palms of his hands] You're really nice.

[ He doesn't feel particularly nice right now. It'd be more accurate to say he's useless; he hasn't found a way home and even if time is stopped, when it starts again Ennis will still be in danger. He laughs hollowly. ]

Thanks.

[Kicking his legs a little, he looks back up at the night sky]

Do you need a place to stay tonight?

[ Sleep sounds really good right about now. But Firo drops his face into his hands and shakes his head. He gets himself to his feet and looks down at Seto. ]

No. I gotta keep lookin'.
