Sixteenth Firefly - [Voice/Action]

[Ever since the last experiment ended, it's made Seto come to realize a lot… a lot about how much has changed in his life in the two and a half years he’s been in Luceti. How much he’s changed.

When the experiment started… Seto woke up almost in the same condition he was when he first arrived in Luceti, though a little worse off in some ways. He was fifteen again—two years younger than he is now. He was thin, his muscles weaker and his body wasn't in that great of shape along with his health because of the lack of proper nutrition all his life.

What was different though... what was different was that when he woke up, he believed himself to be all alone in the world. The only person he had ever known in his life died and he just finished burying him in the front yard. He didn't know of the survivors his grandfather spoke about in his letter yet, he hadn't read that his Grandfather told him thank you for the first time in his life, he hadn't seen the silver haired girl or met PF, Crow, Chiyo or Sai. The happy and sad memories he created with them... he didn't get to experience yet.

He was... truly all alone in the world at that moment.

That's why when he stepped outside that day, when he saw all of the people here, even the ones he thought of as his family and friends before... he was scared of them. Seeing them threw him into a panic because he wasn't ready to see them, his mind wasn't ready to see them. Not how after the condition of his world left him...

Now here he is today, a seventeen year old boy. He’s stronger and taller than he was back then, even his hair is longer. He lives a healthy life, able to eat meats, vegetables, fruits and desserts whenever he wants. Every day he trains with a sword given to him by a friend who left a long time ago with the techniques Terra and Jin both taught him.

He has a family; Firo, his older brother (though he acts like more of a mother), Tsuzuki, someone he still sees as his father with the lingering feelings from the experiment months ago, Crow, his best friend, a more special case in the sense of family--he isn't quite a brother but he is most definitely family in a unique way.... then there was Mia who was like an older sister to him and Emil, his ~~twin~~ older brother... hell, anyone he's become friends with is like his family. Even those who have left are still his family, like Ange.

He doesn’t take what he has here for granted, he cherishes it. He cherishes the things he’s never had. A family, warm and fresh food, good health, a warm place to sleep, good clothes to wear that fit him as he grows… Though as much as it scares him to think about, he has to wonder... when he's seventeen in his world, what will he be like then? Will he even still be alive?

It's late when he opens his journal to voice his thoughts]

You know… it’s really amazing, how much we can change in just a few years. I knew that a lot of things had changed in my life since I've been here but... during the last experiment I guess I just... was reminded of how different things were for me back then... [Not that Seto forgot how his life was back home. He could never forget. It's just fresh in his mind again

There's a beat]

Sorry, I'm just thinking out loud. Anyways, does anyone want to come outside and look at the stars with me? I know it’s getting colder outside but I have blankets and hot cocoa to stay warm. I'll be outside house forty-eight if anyone wants to come by. [And true to his word, Seto will be outside his house, looking through a telescope in his front yard.]

[Firo's stepping outside in time to hear Seto making his journal post, and he hangs back in the doorway until it's finished. He doesn't want to interrupt, though he does frown when Seto briefly mentions the past in his old world. The few details Firo knows about that place are enough to terrify him at the thought of Seto living through it.

When Seto's done speaking, Firo walks out to join him, carrying a winter hat.]

Hey, you gonna be warm enough out here?

[Ellie hadn't seen the message - too preoccupied with other things to bother with checking the journal today - but she'd been out and about to get herself a new, warmer coat from the shop since it is getting chilly, as well as some gloves. New gloves. It's crazy. She has literally never owned anything new before, and suddenly she has a whole closet...

She's still sort of marveling at them as she wanders by, but when she notices the telescope, she has to stop and stare. Oh wow. Oh wow, so cool...]

[At some point after Seto makes his journal entry, he'll be joined by a Crow suddenly appearing right by him and his telescope. (He jumped down from the roof in order to meet with his friend in the yard.)]

See anything cool yet?

[Seto looks back when he hears Firo and puts the journal down on one of the blankets he has laid out for his books then nods with a smile]

Yeah, I think I'll be warm enough! This jacket's been keeping me warm. [Since he's been out here almost every night he'd know. But hey if he got cold he could just make a fire]

[It's all right, Seto understands the marveling of everything, he did it a lot when he first got here. OKAY WELL he still does when he finds new things.

When Ellie stops to stare at the telescope, Seto is cleaning off the lens one last time to make sure that nothing will disrupt his view. Once he finishes he goes to grab the book that's lying on the ground next to it and spots the other just standing there looking his way. He doesn't know her but he offers a bright smile and a wave. Always a good time to make new friends] Hello!

[You know if Seto wasn't used to this by now he would've jumped BUT SINCE THIS A THING THAT HAPPENS A LOT he just looks over at Crow from his telescope and beams.]

I have! I found a group of stars that look really amazing and bright up close. Want to see? [He moves away from the telescope in case he wants a peek]

Yeah! [Crow moves over so that he can take a look through the telescope too.]

...You're right, those are some pretty shiny stars up there. [He squints--he's still kind of getting the hang of using this thing, unlike Seto who has certainly had more practice.] They look kinda close to here, don't they?

[But that's the telescope that makes them seem a little closer than they actually are, right?]

[He smiles and tucks the hat into his jacket pocket. Seto already looks like he bundled himself up pretty well, but it pays to check.]

If you're sure.

[He pats Seto's shoulder and stares up at the sky.]

See anything neat yet?

I could bring some cookies to go with the hot chocolate if you'd like! I just baked them this afternoon, so they might even still be a little warm.

I'd love to look at the stars with you, Seto. Why don't I bring some cookies for us to eat while we watch them?

[Hesitantly she waves back, her eyes shifting from the telescope to him. She's a little embarrassed to have been caught staring, but not enough to make her want to bail.]

Hey. Sorry for staring like that. Your gear kinda made me space out.

[h e h puns.]

[Seto just smiles then nods]

Kinda! When I was setting up the telescope I got to see a really pretty group of stars. I think the telescope is still aimed in the same spot if you want to look. [He gestures to it.]

[GG there Ellie. At least Seto laughs a bit, while it might not exactly be at the joke because what is understanding puns.]

It's okay, I don't mind! [He beams] You can come over and look at it if you want. [Instead of standing over there]

The stars? [Seto looks up then chuckles and shakes his head.] No, I don't think they're that close to this world, they're probably a few light years away. [LOOK AT HIM USING THE TERMS HE'S READ ABOUT IN BOOKS EVEN THOUGH HE STILL DOESN'T REALLY UNDERSTAND THEM ENTIRELY BECAUSE COMPLEX SUBJECTS. He's gotten better at understanding them though so progress.

But he takes Crow's arm and pulls him back from the telescope and points up to where it's pointed.] See? They're really far away. The telescope just makes them seem closer.

[You just made his hot cocoa offer so much better] That'd be awesome, Emil! I'd really love that!

[Everyone is just going to give him cavities] Thank you, Grune and I'd love that!! We can even have them with the hot cocoa if you want.

"Light years"? [What is that...

Crow makes a slight noise of objection at being pulled away from the telescope, but otherwise doesn't complain too much as Seto points out the stars to him.] ...Oh, I see. [...] Too bad they're not closer though--can you imagine how cool it would be if you could get your hands on one of those shiny stars?

[Crow how many times does somebody have to tell you that it's impossible to actually own a star, let alone touching one...]

Yeah? Thanks!

[He leans down to put his eye to the telescope, moving very slowly and carefully so as not to jostle it. He's probably being so careful as to look silly, but he doesn't want to mess up Seto's telescope.]

Wow...

[In his excitement forgetting that Seto can't see what he's seeing, Firo exclaims:]

I think I see it! Is that it?

Oh, that would be lovely. Hot cocoa is so delicious, especially under the stars.

Okay! Let me pack some up and put a coat on and then I'll be right there!

You don't mind?

[She's already walking over, so too bad if he does. She's genuinely intrigued.]

Is that a telescope? I've never seen one in real life before.

[Seto can't help but beam at his excitement and nods. Even though he can't see what exactly Firo's looking at, it doesn't look like he moved it from where he had it set and surrounding it are a bunch of other beautiful stars so]

It should be! Isn't it really amazing?

Okay, I'll see you soon!

[By the time Emil should get there, Seto will be just gazing out of his telescope, looking at the sky]

[Emil will be along about fifteen minutes later, clad in a coat and carrying a knapsack with him. It takes him a moment to notice Seto over by the telescope, but when he does, he waves and jogs over to the other boy.]

There you are! I almost didn't see you at first.

[Then, looking at the telescope:]

Is that a telescope?

[He draws back from the telescope to look at Seto, nodding enthusiastically.]

Yeah! Have you seen anything else cool? Can we move it and see what else is out there?
